The Beatles

Formed in 1960 in Liverpool, England, this rock band comprised four members — John Lennon, George Harrison Ringo Starr, and Paul McCartney. They gained popularity rapidly and became an influential group in the world of rock music. In the 50s, they focused on genres such as beat, rock and roll, and skiffle; but later they tried many other genres such as Indian music, pop ballads, hard rock, and psychedelia.  In doing all these, they creatively incorporated classical music. Some of their most celebrated albums are Abbey Road, 1969, The Beatles, 1968, Rubber Soul, 1965, etc.  The Beatles, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, are USA’s best-selling artists, having recorded sales of 178 million units (certified). The band won a total of 10 Grammys, 15 Ivor Novello Awards and 1 Academy Award. In 1988, they became inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

This artist was regarded as the best music composer of all generations. He contested the commonly held notions of authority by being a non-conformist. His moving symphonies, as well as, sonatas surpassed the limits of the Classical Era of his time, and he was a pioneer of the Romantic Era.   Beethoven, though with some hearing impairment, never allowed the condition to deter him from reaching his potential as a genius composer. Some elements from his masterpieces could still be seen in modern movies like Ace Ventura.

A lot of funny comments were made in public about this influential artiste, before his demise, about his skin color, about his manner of speaking, about his love for children and zoo animals, about his plastic surgeries. But when his death was reported on the 25th of June, 2009, the world shook.Then, the world realized that they had lost one of most influential entertainers to ever grace the surface of the earth. Born on the 29th of August, 1958, Jackson was an actor, a songwriter, a singer and a philanthropist.  His best-selling music album was Thriller, which sold more than sixty-six million copies across the world. He produced a host of albums, most of which had several hits. Michael Jackson won 13 Grammys, 26 American Music Awards, and a large number of other accolades. He was among the few artists that were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame two times.

Elvis Presley

Elvis Presley disliked being referred to as a hero or described as the king of rock n roll. Because he was teased during his childhood days in Tupelo, Mississippi, he became withdrawn. Then, as a loner he learned how to play the guitar, getting inspired by black gospel songs.Years later, Presley became an influential artist in the nascent genre, rock music. Also, he was the best-selling solo artist of all time. He was among the most celebrated and influential artists of the twentieth century. Elvis Presley died on the 16th of August 1977, from a heart attack.
